Senieji lietuviški raštai Lietuvių kalbos institute pradėti skaitmeninti 1995 metais. Į elektronines laikmenas pirmiausia kelti XVI–XVII amžiaus šaltiniai. Šia baze siekiama saugoti senuosiuose šaltiniuose esančią kalbinę, kultūrinę ir istorinę informaciją įvairiomis elektroninėmis formomis, padaryti retus spaudinius ir rankraščius lengviau prieinamus mokslo visuomenei, spartinti lituanistikos plėtrą, skatinti modernius XVI–XVIII amžiaus rašomosios lietuvių kalbos tyrimus ir jų sklaidą tradicinėmis bei elektroninėmis formomis. Bazę sudaro tekstai, konkordancijos, indeksai, skaitmeninės faksimilės.

The first attempt to digitalise the old Lithuanian writings was made in 1995. The first writings transferred to electronic files were the sources of the 16th–17th century. Aims: to preserve linguistic, cultural and historical information of old sources in different electronic formats, to make valuable printed works and manuscripts easily accessible to the research community, contribute to the development and promotion of Lithuanian studies, to promote up-to-date research of the 16th–18th century written Lithuanian and dissemination of its results in traditional and electronic formats. Structure: texts, concordances, indices, transcribed facsimiles.
